My vintage shopping diary & top 3 finds of 2015

Well, it's time to say goodbye to the Year 2015. Let's take look back into this year with my vintage shopping diary. Actually I made vintage purchases in 2015 less than usual (I will be from year to year more pickier…), but I was not left bare handed this year either.

I also listed my top 3 vintage finds of 2015.

Place: 3: Novelty purse with hand painted geisha girl and beads.

It really seems that you can never know what will be the next find!

Place 2: Koret of California labeled full skirt with African themed novelty print.

This print was not in my closet, but this was rectified for good now!

And then THE found of the year. Lightning cannot strike the same place twice? False, at least in this case. Please read this post, and you know what I mean. I found the dress of my dreams over again, but this time with a different top.

Place 1: Sears Roebuck & Co labeled novelty print dress.

Christmas Greetings!

I wanted to write this quick post just to let you know that this blog is still alive and, of course, to wish You all a Merry Christmas! I have been quite busy lately but fortunately in a very pleasing way, I have been a Maid of Honor for my sister (and by the way purchased four Maid of Honor’s dresses for myself!) and naturally had organized the bridal shower for her too. I have also made some vintage shopping as always and can’t wait to get to share my finds with you during the next year.

So now I’m wishing You a Merry Christmas and hope that you will visit here in The Lucky Bubbles also next year!

My all-time favorites: My bra and bustier tops

“My all-time favorites” is post series in which I present some of my and my sister’s favourite items by theme.

***

When people ask me sometimes what kind of vintage clothes I like the most, the answer is quite easy: wearable casual clothes (especially bra and bustier tops). I simply adore them! They can be paired endlessly with colorful novelty skirts, pedal pushers, tiny shorts and so on…

Unfortunately it's become harder and harder to find these and the prices of the vintage tops have gone out of control. The tops are sold often in just minutes, and it seems that you really have to be in the right place at the right time, if you gonna get the top in wearable size of your own now days. Maybe this is one reason why I like my own little collection more and more. In following pictures are presented some of my favorite ones from my closets.

Vintage bustier tops, like this one, are often so sturdy and well boned that you can easily wear them without bra. The same cannot be said of the modern tops.

LABEL: Edith Lane Beach Wear Originals - Julius Garfinckel & Co. Washington

I love everything in this top! I found it from eBay UK in a very reasonable price.

LABEL: Serena

This top has been seen previously in this post.

LABEL: Charmode - Sears Roebuck & Co.

 LABEL: St Michael

Similar to this top was on sale in turquoise on eBay a couple of years ago, but I lost the auction then. This spring I found the top in black. Thanks to fifties mass production!

LABEL: An Original Top Her Creation

One of my Queen Casuals labelled tops.

LABEL: Queen Casuals

It is often said that one of the cornerstones of the every woman’s wardrobe is a white blouse. If you ask me, 50’s vintage girl’s ”white blouse” is definitely bustier top in white (and black too).

Our Crayfish Party No. 3

Let’s party again! This time we moved from the town to the countryside because was the time of our annual crayfish party!

I and my Love organized the party again as soon as the official crab catch season (nature catch become legal by the date in Finland) was begun. We wanted to organize an all outdoor party so we have chosen late July for organizing date every year although crayfish party is traditionally at the end of the summer season (more like in August).

I was wearing Sun Ray Sportswear labelled nautical two piece waffle cotton set. For jewelers I had blue charm bracelet and sea shell-shaped earrings.

Containment of the party was same old way, eating the crabs, singing, swimming (going to sauna too) and spending a great time with some friends. Here comes some pics of the party…

Buffet table and party guest. Biggest hit, after the cray fishes, of the buffet was definitely pie made of tasty Swedish cheese.

We have had generally a miserable weather throughout the summer here in Finland but luckily our party day on the Saturday was sunny and warm enough.

My latest purchases: Novelty purse

I think this is certainly one of my funniest purchases I've done during this year. Novelty purse with hand painted geisha girl and beads. It seems that you can never know what will be the next find!

Home party!

I hosted traditional home party for my birthday a little while ago...

The party was started at 4 pm when the DJ arrived at the house.

Main theme of the decoration was a pink flamingo (decorations were not any vintage).

I was wearing a pink square dance dress.

Unfortunately I don’t have any proper pic of my dress; this one is the best of poor pictures…

For jewelry I had brooch and bracelet set made of sea shells. Dress is from Vintageija’s and jewelry set I received as a souvenir from my sister from VLV #15 in 2012.

Record dancing continued onto the next date, and I have to say it was a nice way to grow older for one more year again!

A new member of my clear Lucite purse family

VintagEija’s celebrated its seven years birthday party on the Saturday before last week. There was a huge birthday party sale both in street shop in Turku (Finland) and in web shop.

And I made a real bargain…

I found this this Patricia of Miami labelled Lucite purse and it became to be a new member of my clear Lucite purse family!

My all-time favorites: My sister’s and my own Minna Parikka accessories

“My all-time favorites” is post series in which I present some of my and my sister’s favourite items by theme.

Updated: Monday, December 26, 2016

This collection isn’t any vintage, but I think that the lovers of old styles would like it anyway. The case is my sister’s and my own Minna Parikka accessories.

Minna Parikka is a Finnish shoe designer. Parikka launched her own name Minna Parikka Shoe brand in 2005. In addition to the shoes there are also other accessories in collections such as handbags, gloves, scarves, and wallets. Minna's work has been featured for example in Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and seen worn by some celebricity women such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Paloma Faith and Beth Ditto. Design Forum Finland chose Minna Parikka as a Young Designer of the year 2014.

We love her feminine, playful and surreal design. Most parts of my everyday accessories that are not vintage pieces are by Minna Parikka.

We have quite lot of the same Minna Parikka accessories with my sister, and this is something we should keep in mind when we go out together : ).

Edith

From left to right, from top to bottom: Little Lulu, Wing it, Nouveau, Wilma

Caracal

Caracals give so nice twist to everyday outfits so they are worth owning in many colors, says my sister.

Funny little kitten style ballet flats called Selina.

Pfeiffer

Classic motifs of Minna Parikka Shoes are hearts, wings and animal ears. These heels called Pfeiffer are definitely one of my all-time favorite everyday shoes by Minna Parikka. They turn my Mondays onto a whole new level!

Message Clutch

Mousey

A must-have purchase of a huge fan of Minnie Mouse!

 Dessert Boot

From top to bottom: Jodie, Lin

From left to right, from top to bottom: Buster Spades, Millie, Sandy, Starlet

My sister admired those Millie Flats for a long time; however, she did not buy them then. Then, after a many years when all the pairs were sold out, she found them by accident as a second-hand. Also Sandy Loafers were purchased as a second-hand from a nice seller in Canada.

 Buster Spades

Elaine

When buing lot of vintage, I must accept almost all being one-offs of a certain style. So when there is a chance to have something as a spare ones, I do get them multiple with such a joy! One example of these is Elaine-named ankle shoes, of which the other pair is just waiting its turn to be out.

Seiren (ankle boots)

Camellia

These Ballets flats called Camellia, my sister liked so much that she bought them in all the available colors.

Grethel (red and white shoes)

My sister's treasures! Earlier production by Minna Parikka Brand which is, unfortunately, really hard to find nowadays. These three accessories have been found with a hard effort and some good luck.

 Tassle Royal, Jean

From left to right: Raquel, Bardot

Brigitte

I like to wear mostly ankle boots than long-handled boots in the winter time. But even thou’ these boots I could not resist.

From top to bottom: Bugs, Deco

Mine, my sister’s and mom’s wallets. Yes, my mom loves Minna Parikka styles too!

 Bugs

 Drew, Bugs

Blondie

Thelma Clutch

Minna Parikka designed Pink Ribbon (charity symbol) in Finland in 2014. Purse is an add-on gift with a period magazine.

Maxine

Maxines are definitely my favorite everyday handbags. My sister likes to use them mostly while in travel.

Corona

Corona is a just like a little sister of the Maxine. Too bad, that it was not manufactured in many different colors.

Corona, Little Lulu

Muse (shoes), Ginger (bags)

 Thelma, Ginger

And finally our latest purchases. On the left is my sister’s Corona Bag in pink and on the right my pink Ginger Bag in pink too.

By the way, also Princess Estelle of Sweden has her own Ginger bag in pink! It was selected by the president couple of Finland as the official gift to the new member of the Swedish Royal Family in 2012. And because I like Swedish Royal Family very much, I also wanted to have a real princess bag for myself.
