Key pieces of the season: Holiday dresses

I got an idea for this post from my sister. She had read “Essentials of style” themed posts from some blogs and after that she asked me to do my version of the same idea. And here it comes, the first part of the “Key pieces of the season” article series!

***

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and soon it will be the time of the most wonderful Holiday dresses! I have collected here some of my dresses...

...and accessories which are ideal for the Christmas celebration.

I love glorious Holiday dresses, although I have to admit that my favourite outfits during the Christmas holidays are dressing gown and pajamas...

Here is some more inspiration for Christmas outfits from Lana Lobell Holiday Fasion Fiesta catalogue from the 50’s.

GOOFIN' RECORDS 30th Anniversary Party

Goofin’ Records is a Finnish roots and rockabilly label, which has celebrated its 30 years anniversary in Helsinki on the first weekend of November.

Unfortunately we missed the Friday's pre-party because of our work. On Friday there were two Finnish bands on the stage, The Shoebox Revue & Mike Bell and The Belltones. By the way, Mike Bell and The Belltones will be also seen at the VLV 2015. So if you will be there, make sure that you do not miss out this fabulous Finnish band!

Main party day was Saturday.

Picture taken from here

I wanted to jazz up to my outfit so I chose atypical color combinations for me.

I carried my camera with me during the whole night; anyhow I remembered to take only couple of pictures. Here are two of them.

High Noon on the stage.

…and two party girls with happy smiles.

Treasures from my grandma's attic

I found from my closet a treasure, which I had almost forgotten, and decided to share it right away with my readers.

The case now is my grandma’s handicraft and pattern magazines and patterns, which I got from my grandma for more than ten years ago. As a teenager I sewed a lot by using just these patterns! Although I haven’t sewn or made handicraft now for years, I've luckily saved this collection.

My grandma had a lot of patterns from the 1940s to 1990s. Some of the patterns were purchased and some of them she had drawn herself. Unfortunately, I was unable to save the whole collection. I’ve pictured some of the pages and patterns.

These patterns have been used for making of clothes for my grandma, my mother and myself. For example my granma sew a red overcoat from the cover of Burda magazine in the 60’s and some 30 years after there was a yellow coat done for me!

My very first polka dot dress by Jo Collins

I bought my very first polka dot dress at the end of this summer.

I fell in love with back of heavily boned bodice of this Jo Collins (Jo Collins was a junior label made by Mandel Manufacturing Company in St. Louis) labelled dress, which is open with corset lacing up the back.

I did not get to wear the dress in the summer but I wanted very much to use it. So I decided to wear it last week. Although the season for the summer dress was run out a long time ago.

With the dress I had chosen green box purse and green shoes which matched nicely with green polka dots.

For jewellery I had green charm bracelet and matching earrings set which I bought from my sister this autumn.
